Born in LaPlace, Louisiana, in 1958, Cardone developed an early fascination with money and business when watching his Honduran-immigrant father heavily invest in the stock market. Cardone eventually left his small town pursuit of business to attend college, first at McNeese State University in Lake Charles, LA, then at the University of Houston, wrapping up his undergraduate studies with a degree in business.

After earning his degree, Cardone decided to pursue a career in sales, earning his first job as a sales manager at a computer parts supplier in Houston. Not long after, he moved back to south Louisiana and began working in automotive sales, eventually becoming an award-winning car salesperson, taking the title of "number one" in the country on numerous occasions. His success as a car salesman propelled him onto the national stage, as he began to write books and speak publicly about his own strategies for success.

Buoyed by his rising public profile, Grant Cardone opened a series of real estate investments in the late 80's, which paved the way for him to become the multimillionaire he is today. Cardone has since went on to write and self-publish several books about business and sales, including The 10X Rule: The Only Difference Between Success and Failure, Sell or Be Sold: How to get your way in Business and in Life, and The Closer's Survival Guide: 101 Ways to Sell More, Close Big Deals, and Live a Successful Life.
